Having an exotic pet is becoming more and more popular. However, it’s important to remember that the majority of lizards, snakes, spiders and birds aren’t native to the UK and they require specialist care to ensure that they are healthy and happy at all times.
At Ambivet we appreciate that all animals need to have first class care available to them, including the less usual ones. If you are considering an exotic animal you must make sure you are up-to-date with the rules set by The Animal Welfare Act. According to the law you must provide the following basic needs (freedoms) for your pet:
- The freedom from hunger and thirst.
- The freedom from discomfort.
- The freedom to express natural behaviour.
- Freedom from fear and distress.
- Freedom from pain, injury and disease.
If you would like any more information about the freedoms above, or to book an appointment for your pet (exotic or otherwise), please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our friendly team.
